A Small Comfort, Inc was founded in 2009 as an effort to support and comfort parents and their children in times of crisis.
Having experienced first hand the unique difficulties brought on by having a child in a crisis situation, the founders of A Small Comfort have dedicated their efforts to identify and fulfill the needs of local families and their children as they face stressful circumstances.
By providing a variety of gifts and services, both generic and child/family specific, A Small Comfort strives to alleviate some of the family’s day to day challenges and stresses brought about by their unique situation.
A Small Comfort relies heavily on a network of volunteers and donors that allow us to provide specific services and unique requests. We receive monetary donations online as well as through various fundraising activities and events.
We work directly with hospital staff, physicians and nurses to ensure positive quality of life to patients and their families going through difficult, unplanned for situations such as prolonged hospital stays and illnesses, financial strains and pressures pertaining to a child illness or disability.
We also work with a network of nonprofits that share our values and specialize in children’s services in the Richmond and surrounding areas. This allows us to extend our reach and provide a greater variety of resources to children and families that meet our qualifications.
A Small Comfort operates with a small dedicated management team. This allows us the best of both worlds; a small administrative budget and a large degree of flexibility.
Our team also consists of dozens of volunteers and other nonprofit organizations that allow us to meet both general day to day as well as unique needs and requests.
