A Small Comfort has been selected to decorate a Christmas tree for the windows of the Miller & Rhoads building in downtown Richmond.

In the tradition of television's "Dancing with the Stars," the winning tree will be chosen by a panel of judges and by the people of Virginia. The decision of the panel of judges will count for only a percentage of the contest's point structure; the other part of the equation will be determined by you Virginians who vote for their favorite tree online.

Everybody wins because the decorated trees will be auctioned at the close of the contest, creating much needed funds for A Small Comfort.

Voting will begin after the trees have been unveiled on December 6. You can vote online, by clicking here.

Join us at the Virginia Christmas Show to be held at the Showplace on October 27-30th. Stop by and pick up your 2011 A Small Comfort Spa Raffle ticket for only $5.00.

A Small Comfort is pleased to announce that we have received our official letter of approval from the Internal Revenue Service giving us 501(c)(3) non-profit, charitable status!

At the end of December 2010, we finally received our approval letter complete with our 501(c)(3) exemption number. It has been a long time coming but we are certain that all the hard work will lead to greater opportunities to support children in crisis.

Donations made during the 2010 year are now considered tax deductible. Receipts for each donation will be mailed January 31, 2011.
